I joined Beaumont Karate-Do in 1992 when I was 7 years old, under Sensei Steve Hartnett (founder, chief instructor 1988-1998). The next year I began training in Kobudo (weapons). November 1999, I travelled to California to train at the International Headquarters and compete in the Inter-dojo tournament, the following spring, May 2000, I earned my red belt (junior black belt). I earned my black belt in May 2002, weeks before finishing high school. My training continued, earning my Nidan (second degree black belt) and graduating from University in 2007. I currently hold the rank of Yondan (4th degree black belt) in Karate and Nidan (2nd degree black belt) in Kobudo.
Over the years, I have competed in many tournaments and have participated in the annual Canadian seminars. I have won the Demura Cup Championship (Ladies Division) twice and have earned medals in Canada and the States for sparring and kata. In March 2008, I became the head instructor of Beaumont Karate-Do and have continued to share my passion for karate and kobudo training. Since taking over the club, I have gone back to University and have become a high school teacher. I live in Beaumont with my son and husband, and enjoy teaching karate and kobudo in Beaumont.
